Just had a quick look at your Mobo online.
Do you have Audio on Board as per the details on the website. If so, have you tried completely uninstalling your Audigy 1 and drivers and then running with only the Onboard Sound enabled.
Also, with regards to the ATI Drivers, Roll these back to Cat 4.11 as I think they are more stable on the older 9xxx series cards and work just as well and probably better than the Cat 5.5 will on a 9800 pro.
Remember to use Driver Cleaner to remove any driver files that get left over. You can get this from www.guru3d.com I believe it will remove the Audigy drivers too, but I'm not 100% sure.
1 last thing to check. See what the Dram timings are for your memory and adjust these in the BIOS to the correct settings. You should be able to obtain these from the web or even your mobo website. It may be an instibility in the settings etc running on the mobo.

More info. on the problem
Well I found out a few thing about that supposed "ding" in the backgorund. My computer is having problems reading a "memory location", and giving me a windows error I'm also using "FreeRam" program which gives me the exact address and details of the problem at hand. So I ran a memtest on my board. Here is the odd part, the memtest will pass normally but after the game crashes and I run the memtest it goes crazy! Like 100,000 errors and then the computer reboots, so I run windows again and after about a hour repeat the memtest with no problems. I know its strange but that is what is happening. It sounds like a power issue to the memory controller to me but I ran the PC with 2 different PS and it is occur with both (one 350W Antec and a 500W Antec) So bad coding? Who knows but when I run other programs/games and the error pops up in the background I won't notice it until I actually quit the game, it doesn't freeze the game up like Guild Wars does, My new memory is coming in from newegg on Friday so I'll keep you guys posted if it might have fixed the problem or not. I was also getting memory errors on my GC but that stopped when I installed the MB's AGP driver before the Nvidia driver (I didn't have the MB's AGP driver installed prior because their old driver was crashing my windows system). The best advice I can give people for troubleshooting for the BSOD is to copy down the memory location and look up the internet where that memory location is located, that is how I discovered I was not only having memory problems with my RAM but also with my GC so I get about 15 minutes of playtime now until the game hits that spot in RAM and crashes.

I just reinstalled XP a couple of weeks ago, so there are no old drivers on my PC. I will try to roll back to Catalyst 4.11 (which I had to do with KOTOR II) to see if that helps. I just tried the latest drivers since it was a new Windows installation.
My onboard audio is disabled in the bios. I would prefer to keep using the Audigy.
My memory settings are set to the default, though I am considering trying to run with only one stick of memory.
I will update after trying the Radeon driver change.

*Solution*
Well I finally found a solution for my problem hope this help you guys.
Here are my specs
Athlon 64 3000+
Nvidia 6600GT
ASRock K8 Combo-Z MB
1GB Corsair DDR400
Audigy2 ZS
500W Antec PS
Dual 17" LCD Screens
WinXP SP1
Every option on my MB is enabled in the Bios and all options are set to auto
*NOTE: No overclocking was done on the MB,GC,or mem*
Well I had all the above issues before (resets, freezes,GW error,BSOD) So I tracked my BSOD and random reboots down to the memory (I use to have 512MB of Samsung)
so I replaced the memory with the current 1GB, upgraded my bios. So that fixed my BSOD issue, as for the freezes and GW errors well, I still had those.
To fix the freezes I use a program called Driver Cleaner Pro
*Freeware* (search for it on google)
To uninstalled All nvidia,3dFX,and ATI drivers (just in case something ATI come fixed in there awhile back because I use to have a ATI card)
After that I reinstalled my MB's AGP driver, rebooted, and than installed the OLDER version of the Nvidia Forceware driver from www.guru3d.com (77.50 version),rebooted
fired up guild wars and played for 2 hours until I got tired of playing. So to sum things up
1. The BSOD issue (unless it says nv***.dll along with it)
is a memory issue so run your memtest bootdisk to check it out, Guild Wars is the only game that messed up on me because of a bad sector in the memory so even 1 bad sector can mess up the game)
2. The freezing issue and guild wars errors is a driver conflict issue, try wiping your old drivers with Driver Cleaner Pro and reinstalling first the motherboard's AGP driver, and than a older version of the Graphics Card driver. (77.50)
Hope this helped you guys, Guild Wars is a great game once you getting running.

Totally understand you want to keep using the Audigy, but uninstalling it and removing the hardware is a way to find out if that hardware or indeed the Creative software is causing any problems, or even if GW is causing any problems when you have it installed.
If the problem is still there after you uninstall the drivers and remove the card, then just reinstall it again.
This is problem determination and sometimes you have to do these things to find a solution.

I use drivers that came with sound card, didnt see updates on the net, but everytging worked fine. I played KOTOR2 & Dawn of War witn no problems.
Bought GW yesterday, was expiriencing heavey BSOD with kmixer.sys error after 10-15 minutes of gaming.
After reading this thread I run the game with "-nosound" parameter.
Result:
NO CRASH since that time.
...but no sound too, bit suxy.
happy but confused
Any1 knows where I can get the newest SB Audigy 2 Value drivers?

PART II
OK after whole day of "-no sound" and no BSOD(!), I gave a try to 'with sound' playing yesterday.
Guess what happened - yes, BSOD ingame.
I d/l latest audigy 2 driver update provided in this post http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...&postcount=400
BSOD ingame
I run Driver Cleaner to eliminate last remanants of nVidia AC97 sound and
BSOD ingame
I changed TRas setting to 11 from (7) and it went even better - bios replied with bootblock cheksum error "kiss my as I'aint gonna even turn on"
I almost got my pants wet but cleared CMOS and the chunk came back to life.
Anyway I turned "-nosound" again. Of course:
NO BSOD
In a weekend I'll remove audigy and try to play on ac97 sound.
Im really interested if it is going to work properly.
Cheers

This should be interesting to see what happens.
I only run my machine using the onboard NForce 2 Sound Chip. To be honest, I think it's a damn good sound chip and does what it's supposed too. The only thing I would like is Optical Digital so I can hook it up to my Cinema Setup, but I can't. My PC only has Co-Ax Sound and Not Fibre optics, and my surround sound only has Fibre.
Oh well, I could install my old Platinum Live but that could screw up my gaming.
I decided to stop using Creative Soundblasters as I was forever hitting problems with them, as I never thought there drivers were the best they could be. I could be wrong and lots of people will say they never had a problem, but most of the problems I hit with my PC was Soundblaster related.
There is another guy here who I have also advised to remove his Audigy 1, so will be interesting to see if he decides to actually do that, or leave it in as he likes using it.

Ok, I switched my Radeon drivers from 5.5 to 4.11, and I haven't crashed in the last 4 hours (2 yesterday and 2 today).
I kept everything else the same. Maybe that is the simple solution. If anything changes, I will post it here. I am just happy it is working.

i guess every1's problem is a bit different, but similar consequences, if u are having major restart problems, BSOD, gw errors, 1st off, to see if it is a heating issue, play the game, and wen sumthing happens, jus start up the game again and see if this time the game stuffs up more quicker and quicker, till u jus have major restart problems, if this is ur case, heating is ur problem, this doesnt have 2 happen only wif ur vid card, but mainly ur cpu (i personally am running my x800pro @ XT speeds and no problems even after 24 hours of gameplay). Other cases are driver problems, and sum simply arent feeding enuff power into GW (since it takes more power then most other games u've played), for now, my problem was the heating, so i can only help wif that issue sorry, GL for fixing this problem, and im sure this problem will ethier stay the same or start 2 decrease

*sigh* A little confused...
Another PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA error.... *sigh*
Well all i have to say is a friend of mine has the exact same parts as i do in my computer, except for one additional RAM stick and a new HD. Im not sure how to set my RAM timings ( still very n00bish ) so i decided to try every other solution i knew how. My friend who has the exact same parts runs Guild Wars fine so i suspected it was something to do with my RAM or HD. So as my first approach i attempted to take out my excess RAM stick, and try running guild wars on just a 512. This didnt help at all, so as my next attempt i tried a Defragmentation, and then soon after a Disk check on my hard drive. Before i did this my G/W would randomly crash when i warped to another town or place. Now what i just did fixed my problem untill about 6 hours of gameplay i recieved the error once again but not on my way to warp somewhere, just out in the open. This draws me to one of two conclusions; that i may have a recurring problem with my hard drive, or the disk check was only a minor setback for the errors with my RAM. I am not sure how to set RAM timings but once i figure out how to, thats my next step in attempting to fix this mess. Hope this could help someone out. = \

Have you tried a complete uninstall of Guild Wars and then reinstall it?
Just make sure, that the parition you are installing on has been defragged first, as the GW game file is one very large file and keeps growing as the updates occur.
If you have a split partition with the GW file located all over the place, this could cause you to have errors appear.
I know you have tried Defrag already, but try it before you reinstall Guild Wars and see what happens.

Damn,almost had it
Well after I reported to you guys I had it working yesterday,
I starting playing this morning and had freeze ups and BSOD,
So I tested my *NEW* memory I got in yesterday, now I know it isn't bad but I got the same thing 100000s of errors in memtest and than a reboot. So onto a new motherboard I guess, what do you guys thing a bad memory controller on the MB? I don't know what else could cause it. Well hopefully that will fix my problem and I can start playing again.

*UPDATE*
The Techies at NCSoft told me to install VIA chipset drivers. So I installed them, restarted my computer, then attempted to play Guild Wars. I noticed a 10 - 15 FPS boost, then after 15 minutes of play, I got the BSOD.
So I'm still in connection with NCSoft Techies. I'll let you guys know of any updates. And if I do get my game fixed, I'm not going to leave cause alot of you guys have problems and I wanna help out.

Before you go out and get a new Mobo, have you tried putting your BIOS to defaults and then run the memtest program again?
Addition - Also, I know it's a pain, but try and remove all the unnecessary hardware and drivers from your machine before trying again, such as your Audigy. Then rerun the memory test. I know you are getting errors, but nothing is totally true and you may well have a hardware conflict that isn't necessarily related to your memory but could be causing it to fall over.
Without going back through the whole thread, have you made sure your Ram Timings in the Bios are correct?

I had everything set to "auto" setting in the bios and everything else set to default when I ran the different test, I ran a older version of memtest from a bootdisk, the microsoft mem. test off a bootdisk from their website and a
the windows version of memtest 3.2 (The one with the update for the Athlon 64 chips) and all three test failed with the thousands of errors. The timing for my memory states 1.5 but my MB only gives me the option of 1T or 2T
so I just set that to auto. The mem test will run for awhile before it errors though so that might be why I'm only getting a BSOD in game and not anywhere else since I don't use any other programs that fill the memory up to that spot. The odd part is when the game crashes without the BSOD (the usual AreaNet error screen) and I look at the details I'm getting that memory address c000050 and I'm pretty sure thats just a graphics card driver issue but that only happens once in a blue moon so I'm more worried about getting the game to work so I can at least finish 1 mission.
